Step 1 — Get your account
Everything runs through one free account. If you haven't set it up yet, it takes about two minutes.
The #1 login mistake: Jellyfin logs you in with the username you chose at signup, not your email address. If "invalid username or password" keeps happening, make sure you're typing your username, not your email.
The same username and password work on your TV, phone, tablet, and browser. Set it once; use it everywhere.
Watch in a web browser
The fastest way to start — nothing to install.
Chrome, Edge, and Safari play the widest range of files smoothly. If a video plays sound but no picture in Firefox, switch to Chrome or use the app — see Troubleshooting.
Watch on your TV
Install the free Jellyfin app, then point it at our server. The app decodes video better than a browser, so it's the smoothest option for TVs.

Connecting the app to the server
When the app asks for a server address, enter exactly:
valleyforgewatch.duckdns.org
Then sign in with your username and password. That's it.
Make sure you typed the address with no http:// and no spaces. If the app insists on a full address, try https://valleyforgewatch.duckdns.org.
Watch on your phone or tablet
In the app you can download a movie or episode over Wi-Fi and watch it later without internet — handy for flights or the car.
Playing on your phone but want it on the big screen? Use your phone's built-in Cast/AirPlay, or just open the Jellyfin app on the TV directly.
Request movies, shows & anime
Want something that isn't in the library yet? Two easy ways.
The quick way — Discord
In the #requests channel, type one of these and search the title:
/request movie /request series /request anime
Pick your title from the list, and you're done. The #media-updates channel will tell you when it starts downloading and when it's ready to watch.
The browse way — a Netflix-style grid
Prefer to browse by poster? Visit:

Sign in with the same account, browse trending and popular titles, and request right from there.
Downloads take anywhere from a few minutes to a while depending on the title. You'll get a heads-up in #media-updates when it's ready — no need to ask.
Fixing common hiccups
| Problem | Try this |

| Sound but no picture (often in Firefox) | Use Chrome/Edge, or the Jellyfin app — those decode more video types |
| Buffering / spinning | Lower the quality: tap the gear during playback → pick a lower quality. Also check your own Wi-Fi |
| Can't sign in / "invalid username or password" | Use your username, not your email address — that's the most common cause. Also check caps lock. Still stuck? Ask in Discord and an admin can reset your password. |
| App won't find the server | Re-type valleyforgewatch.duckdns.org exactly, or try it with https:// in front |
| Subtitles missing/wrong | Tap the speech-bubble icon during playback to switch or turn on subtitles |
